Children’s Associate Designer
Position ProfileWe seek an experienced Graphic Designer who is highly creative, self motivated, and has excellent organization and communication skills. Duties encompass all aspects and stages of book design for novels, illustrated middle-grade, and picture books, including (but not limited to) the following: Primary Responsibilities•Designing and formatting application files of jacket and interiors for both novel and picture book titles for the Children’s list•Photo / Art / Illustrator research•Mechanical routing maintenance and scheduling of own projects•Attending production meetings and jacket meetings•Working with Creative Director on other art department needs •Follow up with accounts payable and vendors on billing and invoicingSelection Criteria•Candidate must have a four year undergraduate degree or completed an equivalent Fine Art/Graphic Design program•A minimum of 2-4 years of book publishing design experience•Mastery of current MAC design applications including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is a must•Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment.•Candidate should have good skills in diplomacy, a strong sense of initiative and high level of professionalism.•Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrategood follow up and follow throughBloomsbury has a generous program of benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and short term disability coverage and a 401k program.
