Hanley Wood, www.hanleywood.com, is currently seeking a Graphic Designer for our Remodeling group. The Graphic Designer will be responsible for contributing designs with powerful photos, illustrations, and info-graphic presentations. This individual’s strengths will lie in commissioning and directing photo shoots and illustrations, conceptualizing layouts and type treatments, color correction, and producing layout and pages in preproduction. Strong collaboration and communication skills are imperative in ensuring that the workflow between art and edit meet the daily and weekly deadlines.

The Graphic Designer must maintain all style sheets and templates within the K4 and/or Woodwing and work as a partner with editors and staff writers to create a look for the magazine that powerfully connects with specialized intelligence needs of business executive readers.

Major Responsibilities and Related Duties Include:

Coordinating online design with web producers
Assigning photo shoots and illustrations
Ensuring adherence to budgets and deadlines
Work with art staff to select artwork and photos for magazine(commission illustration and photography, color correction, find stock art, create custom illustration using royalty-free art, etc.)
Work with editors to obtain art from developers, owners, architects, and other sources for their specific articles
Hire illustrators and photographers
Manage art/illustration contracts and materials return
Manage creation of charts and infographics for stories
Manage art/photo expenditures, staying within budget
Manage invoicing, submitting bills within appropriate budgeting cycle
Adhere to a strict production schedule that allows for multiple projects at the same time

Qualified Candidates should possess the following Education, Experience, and Skills:

Media design/production experience – preferably in both print and digital formats
Ability to present own creative concepts and create original art elements
(using photography, illustration, typography, infographics)
Ability to shape a project from conception to completion
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
Working knowledge of web design a must
Outgoing, enthusiastic, self-starter
Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills
Strong typographic skills
Great attention to detail
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work with little to no supervision
Working knowledge of Adobe Suite, InDesign, other print and digital design tools
