Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Office administration duties:

•Responsible for overseeing the effective administration of the physical plant
•Point person with building superintendent for all office and building issues
•Supervises cleaning staff
•Oversees small renovation projects within the office
•Handles subtenant relations
•Maintains/oversees purchase of office supplies and furniture, phone system, works with IT consultant to maintain/improve computers/systems, records retention policy and implementation, equipment, etc.
•Point person for office security (alarm system, keys for staff and tenants, etc.)
•Must have basic familiarity with Windows, commonly used MS Office programs, and database/internet navigation to troubleshoot minor problems
•Assists with supervising/supporting interns
•Organizes occasional staff events

HR duties:

•Handle benefits administration (pension, health, dental, transit check, life insurance, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability)
•Serve as primary contact/liaison with brokers for dental, health, life insurance, disability, transit check, and pension plans; liaise with health-care broker and plan reps when necessary
•Track staff attendance
•Organization development
?Compliance with employment regulations and union agreement
?Establish/maintain employee intranet with latest benefit

Job Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related discipline preferred
•5+ years of relevant professional experience including HR, office admin, and tech issues
•Payroll system experience desirable
•Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Acumen Book accounting system a plus
•Prior experience in Publishing or not for profit desirable
•Must have excellent references and be able to communicate effectively

Position reports to the Director of Finance with a dotted line to the Publisher.
