Qualifications: College degree with communications major or significant industry related experience. Industry experience mixing audio in a fast paced, live news environment. Fluent in Windows-based applications. Must possess a desire to research and learn new technologies, process and/or procedures as implemented or designed and willingness to work in other areas as assigned.
Desirable requirements : Operating experience with Euphonix and Yamaha audio consoles, Enco, RTS, Evertz routers, Cedar DNS and AZ Edit. Other broadcast audio mixing (radio, field, audio, film, etc.) Engineering background or experience with audio patching, delay, RF, signal flow and/or timing lines.
Excellent communications skills, interacting with management, clients and colleagues.
Must present strong problem-solving skills and be nimble to address real-time issues with alternative solutions.

Duties: The Audio Designer is responsible for mixing and quality assurance of audio sources for live and taped telecasts, presentations and pre and postproduction. Show preparation is a key factor and meeting with the associated show staff (producers, directors, remote interfaces, etc) to ensure a quality production. Select appropriate music and additional effects and ingest that material into the audio playback devices. Be proactive and stay informed of IFB delegations (and ability to set-up) ensuring that proper communication at all levels is maintained on the IFB and various paths. Select and set up audio equipment for show. Successfully train new audio operators and related staff for all audio related elements including but not limited to editorial staff on beeper phone and intercom usage. Show file maintenance/assist Manager on various projects. Inventory analysis regarding audio supplies, requesting supplies and addressing the future audio needs as needed. Subject matter expert for the audio landscape in the industry, presenting new initiatives/ideas with business rationale to the team for evaluation. Detailed reporting on audio equipment concerns/failures to Engineering and management with follow up action plan and communications.
