The MySQL Data Engineer is an important piece of the Business Intelligence team at Machine Zone and will report to our Business Intelligence Architect. You should be an expert in SQL, have a strong background in Data Warehouse, and have the ability to implement ETL. You will be responsible for building large-scale systems that contain reporting, dashboards, and both ad-hoc of game performance and deep-dive analysis. Your work on the system will support and optimize games played by millions of global players!

Responsibilities:

* Responsible for working with large data sets to track the activity and performance of the games
* Implementing reporting & dashboard systems as well as systems for ad-hoc analysis of game performance & deep-dive analysis
* Help answer business questions in a fast-paced environment

Requirements:

* 5+ years of experience in a dedicated BI environment working with large data sets
* Expert knowledge in MySQL
* Able to build and optimize complex queries efficiently
* Strong background in Data Warehouse and dimensional models, and the ability to efficiently model transactional schema to dimensional schema
* Prior experience working closely with team members to implement database designs, and generate and monitor regular reports
* Strong interest and inclination to QA the code and debug data issues thoroughly
* Understand, design, and implement ETL summarizations and reporting - experience with ETL tools such as Pentaho or Talend and reporting tools such as Tableau is required
* Familiarity with columnar databases, open source integration, and analysis tools is a big plus
* Experience with two or more of the following programming languages: Python, Perl, PHP, Shell, Java; at least one scripting language is a must and knowledge of Hadoop is highly preferred
* Must have the ability to multi-task/prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced, highly data driven, changing environment
* Must be a team player and often work with business users, DBAs, and application engineers to find most suitable solution
* Familiarity with free2play games is a big plus
* B.S. in Computer Science or related field, M.S. a plus
