The Media Trends Analyst position within the Media Analytics (MA) team is responsible for developing and maintaining proactive data summaries and visualizations on emerging trends in the television, online, mobile, and cross-platform media landscapes. These ongoing trends aid internal users to provide specific client solutions and to quickly respond to client inquiries.  The Analyst is responsible for planning relevant analyses in collaboration with internal stakeholders, designing visualized dashboards, working with a data extraction team for report execution, and identifying key findings from the ongoing trends.  The Media Trends Analyst will work together with various internal user groups throughout the organization to provide easy-to-use, clear trend visualization.
The candidate will possess the following skills necessary to successfully fulfill the requirements of this role:

Strong analytical and visualization skills - ability to turn large data sets into clear stories through effective visualization; ability to interpret data essential

Strong computer skills - need to fully develop understanding of Nielsen products and what they deliver; ability to mine large datasets essential; must manipulate data from various source systems to maximize usability

Strong written and verbal skills -  the Analyst will be responsible for documenting as well as communicating dashboard requirements and capabilities.

Project management - ability to work with colleagues and senior management to develop requirements documentation that meet the objective of answering questions quickly and appropriately, and to clearly communicate the plan to the data extraction team

Broad industry knowledge -  knowledge of Nielsen television, online, and mobile reports, software, methodologies, and computations; familiar with media industry and emerging technologies
Fine attention to detail - quality and accuracy in your work is essential


- 2+ years industry experience
- 18+ months business experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional aptitude for data analysis
- Strong data summarization skills

- Accuracy and attention to details
- Strong conceptual understanding of relational database systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel
- Business Intelligence (Tibco Spotfire) software experience a plus
- Four-year college degree in relevant field
