Summit Business Media is hiring a Tax Editor. This position can either be located in Summit's Erlanger, KY or Hoboken, NJ offices.


Responsible for the in-house supervision and editing of the work of a professional Tax and Financial Services Board whose members will write, review and edit professional tax and financial services publications.


The responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Each incumbent in this job:

•Develops and maintains expertise in assigned areas of federal taxation and other legal fields, including researching and interpreting primary sources and evaluating effect on existing law and on department’s publications

•Based on the research, interpretation, and evaluation, carries out the writing necessary to make department publications (annuals, services, newsletters, etc) reflect current changes

•Reviews for accuracy and edits assigned manuscripts submitted by outside authors, taking direct responsibility for the preparation for publication

•Develops new tax and financial services content as requested in a collaborative setting

•Acts as Publication Editor on Tax Facts Intelligence and, as assigned, reviews work of other editors

•Develops and maintains contacts with other professions, professionals and customers in order to understand their information needs

•Performs detailed online research of federal, state, and local laws and regulatory material


Minimum requirements that an individual should possess to carry out the responsibilities of the job.

•Basic understanding of federal tax code
•Demonstrated proficiency in legal and/or tax writing
•Past experience supervising contract writers and editors, preferred
•J.D., preferred
•Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
•Knowledge of legislative process that is necessary to monitor statutory and regulatory developments that must be reflected in this content area
•Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
