We're seeking a dynamic, experienced digital marketing leader in the consumer vertical/category to develop strategy and execute it effectively as a Director of Social Media. This individual will be responsible for overarching digital and social strategy for one of the agency’s largest and most marquee accounts. The Director of Social Media will provide leadership, strategy, content creation, community management, platform design and development, and staff mentorship for a major global consumer account, while splitting time supporting teams in our New York and Chicago offices. We're looking for an individual who can guide clients through the ever-evolving social media landscape, advising on social media-centric initiatives and directing a growing staff of social media experts.



We're interested in speaking to candidates who:

-Have 7+ years of social media marketing and strategy experience – preferably in a public relations agency environment
-Can collaborate effectively with account leads, senior managers and digital leads to create compelling social strategies for launching, growing, and promoting communities in social channels that meet client business objectives and maximize ROI
-Can develop an always-on content studio that creates rich and compelling graphics for brands
-Are talented writers and presenters, with outstanding communication skills, including the ability to own and create programs from concept through to presentation and execution
-Are skilled at developing relationships with senior clients as a trusted advisor
-Possess superb execution and management skills, and can allocate resources effectively, structure teams and deliver excellent, complex programs in a timely manner (including, but not limited to, content creation, community management, social media monitoring and influencer outreach)
-Have experience in engagement metrics, working across the various reporting tools, and who can use data to drive strategies for content creation and concepts
-Have proven experience overseeing community management teams, acting as a mentor to staffers, and collaborating with colleagues across geographies
-Have an expertise with the intersection of paid, owned and earned media in social campaign orchestration
-Are passionate about the social media landscape, and can demonstrate thought leadership in the space
-Can create a team culture that's innovative and enables team members careers to thrive

Primary Responsibilities:

-Provide insight on emerging trends and social media developments as they affect public relations and marketing
-Develop strategies to harness advocates online, whether those are industry influencers, consumers or other constituencies
-Design and implement complex social media engagement campaigns, predominantly for consumer brands and companies
-Integrate effective social media strategies into holistic programming
-Create and execute accurate budget estimates for clients for long-term and short-term programs.
-Provide insight on how to utilize real-time marketing to create valuable and sharable content as part of an always-on strategy
-Become an expert on our clients' brands and goals and develop creative solutions that boost the brand’s reputation.
-Take broad campaign concepts and strategy and translate them into meaningful, actionable operating plans for account teams
-Identify ways to measure success against the campaign goals and achievable outcomes; determine methods to collect and present data and analysis to clients as well as internal stakeholders
-Oversee content production from concept to execution
-Oversee community management to maximize engagement and advocacy for brands
-Oversee web platform development from concept to execution (all social channels and mobile apps, in addition to brand microsites, corporate websites, etc.)
-Guide, mentor, and motivate staff
-Play a key role in new business pitch development and presentations; anticipate/identify emerging client needs and effectively sell in GolinHarris digital/social media services
