Westchester Magazine is seeking a highly-motivated, well-educated, energetic, supremely talented editorial wunderkind to assume fact-checking, research, reporting, writing, and social media duties in a full-time, in-house, junior/entry-level editorial position.This position will lend editorial support to Westchester Magazine and its ancillary publications: Westchester Home, 914INC., and Westchester/Hudson Valley Weddings.Principal duties comprise fact-checking stories, reporting and writing assigned stories, conducting front-end research for the editors on upcoming story packages and projects, helping with our social media and digital operations, and offering general editorial assistance to the editors.Qualified candidates should be recent college grads (0-4 years), and must possess ALL of the following:-an impeccable command of the English language. Proper mechanics, grammar, and syntax should be in your blood and second-nature, allowing you to write smart, snappy copy with clarity and a distinct voice-a literal passion for perfection and attention to detail, enabling you to be a sharp-eyed proofreader and fastidious fact-checker-the creativity to conjure up clever, pithy cover lines, heds/deks/captions, and display copy, and to generate a steady stream of dynamic Westchester-centric story ideas-the resourcefulness necessary to conduct quick and fruitful research (especially knowing how to mine the web for information, and how to work the phone to get what you need from external sources)-the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently, and work autonomously, amid continuous deadlines-be web and social media savvy, with the skills and understanding necessary to successfully engage an upscale audience Previous editorial magazine experience via employment or internships is a huge plus.To be eligible for consideration, candidates must be a Westchester native and/or a current Westchester resident with significant knowledge of and familiarity with the county.Candidates should submit a brief cover letter, resume, and relevant writing samples.NO phone calls.
