Summary of Position
Coordinates Book public relations campaigns for key titles including mailings, developing media lists, write press materials, and booking media for authors. Act a key public relations contact for the Books Division Warehouse Sales. Assist public relations outreach for National Geographic Live! lecture programs and exhibits. Work with public relations manager to coordinate publicity for the Geography Bee, and general administrative support for the books team.

Responsibilities
Working the Public Relations Director, will handle 10-12 public relation campaigns annually for Books, from media list preparation through mailings, pitching long and short lead media including television, print, radio, and web to secure media for authors. Coordinate with outside agency, radio and satellite television tours on these titles, when appropriate.

Conduct national and local media outreach for the National Geographic Bee. Ensure that Bee materials are written and mailed on time, make media calls and secure media placemats and manage Bee winner's media appearances after competition. Assist with general public relations support for the Maps team.

Assist on public relations outreach for National Geographic Live lecture programs and exhibits. Draft press materials and handle local media outreach for upcoming events.

Coordinate with warehouse on departmental mailings and arrival of new titles and catalog mailings.

Assist with general public relations support.

Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communicatoins, Journalisn or related field.

At least one year of experience in Public Relations

Knowledge & Skill Requirements
Experience with Talent management. Knowledge of news media including print, electronic and online and outlets as well as social media, and the ability to maintain personal contacts in each. Experience preparing media lists. Excellent writing and oral presentation skills. Capacity to work with minimal daily supervision is necessary, as is the ability to exercise strong independent judgement.¿¿
