The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) publishes the leading publications in the chemical and related sciences.

The ACS Publications Division is seeking a Marketing Manager accountable for the product marketing of a portfolio of peer-reviewed reputable journals. The position develops and implements marketing plans and programs that drive awareness, submissions and use of our publications in the research community as well as serves as the department lead on cross department initiatives and programs. The incumbent will work within a team environment to collectively achieve the goal of expanding the overall market influence of ACS Publications.

Position Summary

This position is responsible and accountable for the marketing of a portfolio of journals, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Marketing. The position is responsible for the development, administration and execution of the marketing plans for the Journals including creation of appropriate and cost effective marketing strategies; implementation of marketing activities including the creation of campaigns from copywriting and layout/design recommendations to execution through marketing vehicles such as direct mail, advertising, web and e-mail promotions, and tradeshow exhibits.

Position Accountabilities

1.Manages the development and implementation of annual individual marketing plans for the journal product line in support of the overall mission statement and strategic plan of the Publications Division.
2.Coordinates the execution of all planned promotion campaigns. Manages vendors as needed. Makes recommendations for future campaigns based on analysis of results. This includes analysis of results in relation to the annual budget and/or the overall goals and objectives of the ACS Publications Division.
3.Manages product marketing launch activities for new journals, acting as the marketing lead with the product launch team. The incumbent is charged with accomplishing all goals and objectives specifically assigned to the Product Marketing area.
4.Serves as lead on department projects and initiatives, devising new strategies and implementing new tactics on assigned projects. Recommends best practices, and ways to gain efficiencies.
5.Makes written and formal verbal presentations. Travels to tradeshows and meetings.
6.Works with the Channel Marketing Manager and Sales staff to ensure that Journals are being promoted to meet revenue goals through all appropriate sales channels, providing sales support materials and training resources as needed.

Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge

College degree or equivalent experience; 5+ years of experience. Experience related to creating and implementing marketing plans, strategies, creative promotions, new product introduction, and competitive market analysis preferred.
