Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Director, Business Development will oversee the group’s activities in (i) driving our intelligence about industries and companies of interest, (ii) using that expertise to drive innovation across the Viacom organization, and (iii) exploring and pursuing new fields of business. The Director will also support the formation of new engagements with clients.

Specifically, the Director will be responsible for the following activities:

•Industry & Company Analysis
o Developing a rich understanding of the dynamics shaping and changing industries and companies of interest to Scratch
o Driving the hypothesis-formation, research gathering, synthesis and refinement of written and visual communications to capture the essentials and nuances of these categories and businesses
o Identifying opportunities for Scratch and Viacom to enter, grow or sustain their involvement in industries & categories, founded in the inquiries described above

• Intelligence Sharing
o Capturing and communicating the fruits of that understanding in written materials, digital platforms, and live experiences for colleagues within Scratch, across Viacom and external partners
o Generating intellectual property pieces (e.g., press releases, white papers,
infographics, workshops or conferences) to share the thought-leadership of Scratch and Viacom beyond our walls

• Driving Innovation
o Supporting the formation of relationships with new partners, including developing proposals for Scratch engagements, scoping new projects, interfacing with internal teams to inform deal structure, and other new business-related activities


1) At least 5 years’ experience with sustained and quantifiable achievement
2) Background in management/strategy consulting preferred
3) A proven ability to shepherd projects from inception to completion
4) Strong interpersonal skills
5) Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills
6) Team-oriented and willing to work collaboratively
7) Flexibility, initiative, appetite for entrepreneurial environment and appreciation for various corporate cultures
8) Well-organized, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task
