Position Overview:
This position executes the day-to-day social media efforts of New York Media including daily content creation. The top priorities of this position are to manage and augment Company’s social media communities, create and/or rethink content for social media, and execute promotional initiatives. Position is based in New York City.

•Take a lead role in the execution of New York Media’s social media strategies, look for ways to increase interactions, and optimize content for sharing/virality. Contribute a high volume of posts on a daily basis across multiple social media platforms. Expert knowledge of Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, and Reddit required.
•Live-tweet and/or cover cultural and news events as assigned.
•Assist with comment moderation on
•Substantial experience with social media and CMS enterprise tools, including (but not limited to) HootSuite, Tweetdeck, bitly, Buddy Media, SocialFlow, CQ, Drupal, and Echo.
•Interest in/knowledge of subject covered by New York and, with emphasis on fashion/style, food/dining, pop culture, news, and politics.
•Under the direction of the Associate Director of Social Media, maintain and add to best practices for each account with respect to tone, subject matter, frequency, and timing of posts.
•Contribute to and execute promotional campaigns that feature incentives to join our social communities such as exclusive content, contests, insider access or other opportunities.
•Fully understand the Company’s social media audiences and advise the Editorial, Product Development, Marketing, PR, Advertising and Business Development departments on ways to improve their performance with initiatives that cross into social media.
•Monitor trends via real-time reporting and identify ways for the company to leverage current topics of interest to a higher degree.
•Make recommendations on the interactive areas of the New York Media websites where there is potential to inspire more engagement with content. Present rationales for specific changes based on available data and industry best practices.

•2-4 years of experience developing and executing social media strategies (publishing background preferred).
•Background in publishing, ideally in editorial or public relations roles at news media companies. Experience generating or retrofitting content for social media critical.
•Collegial; demonstrated ability to successfully manage interdepartmental relationships
•Excellent writing and proofreading skills. Editorial sensibilities that align with New York’s voice, tone, and editorial POV. Knowledge of industry and competitors in the space.
•Candidate must have a familiarity with industry technologies that facilitate comment moderation as well as those that support social media publishing.
