The Role
Within the Bloomberg Media Group, the Strategic Marketing Lead is responsible for guiding the media marketing group on strategic opportunities that will help accelerate our leadership in the business news space. They will work closely with the Head of the Media Marketing team on identifying the marketing programs for media which include, but are not limited to, those that build awareness and consideration, generate traffic, acquire new audience, and/or focus on retention of current audiences.

The key responsibilities of the Strategic Marketing Lead are as follows:

Have a deep understanding of the target audience for Bloomberg's media content, across our platforms including TV, by immersing him/herself into our metrics and other sources. Identify opportunities we should explore that leverage the behavior and attitudes of the audience to drive more consumption of Bloomberg's media properties. Ideas will be specific to marketing opportunities but could also include product ideas with advertising opportunities.

Be the knowledge source for new trends in the media space and marketing approaches by continually monitoring competitors and their strategies - then translate this into new marketing ideas and programs for our business.

Develop the strategy for all of Media's marketing programs, by working closely with the Head of Media Marketing and the Integrated Marketing Communications Lead. This will involve the following:
For each marketing program, clearly articulate the goals and measurements of success, identify the primary target audience, develop the key singular message we need to communicate to this audience with the program, and work with creative teams, as necessary, on developing needed creative. Coordination with Bloomberg's market research team around messaging and creative testing is also key, as well as tight collaboration with the Integrated Marketing Communications team who will be responsible for bringing the marketing programs to the marketplace.

The Strategic Marketing Lead will also ensure marketing strategies identified are globally relevant, working with marketers in the regions to understand audience perceptions for Bloomberg's media properties and how we need to position Bloomberg in those markets to increase relevance and consumption.

-Bachelor’s degree; MBA degree strongly preferred.
-8+ years overall recent/relevant experience
-5+ years of recent/relevant marketing experience in a top tier media company with multiple media properties including TV.
-Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the proven ability to work across different audiences, personalities and experience levels, bringing them together around a common goal and approach for achieving that goal.
-Superior communication skills, including writing, editing and verbal capabilities.
-Pragmatic sense of business acumen, problem solving abilities, creativity, and sense of "getting things done".
-Proven results for bringing forward a marketing strategy that led to significant results in driving audience growth.
-Proficient knowledge and experience with the development of creative briefs and working with creative teams on how to provide rich insights that drive great creative work.
-A passion for data and following trends to identify opportunities that should be explored, backed by evidence.
-Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the proven ability to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously and against deadline
