More than 3.5 million people are employed at colleges and universities in the United States. Working in academe comes with its own culture, set of rules, and personalities, and navigating a career on campus is both rewarding and challenging.

We’re seeking a Senior Editor who can help shape the editorial content for this new venture, which will sit at the intersection of our readers’ professional and personal lives. Your role will be to create content that is compelling for an intellectually curious and sophisticated audience with hunger for information they can use to advance in their careers and thrive in academe.

The ideal candidate will have proven editorial, managerial, and leadership skills, and the demonstrated ability to motivate, challenge, and guide reporters, freelancers, and community managers. Applicants should be able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work with colleagues outside the editorial department, including our business and technology units, while keeping overall goals in mind. He or she should have demonstrated skill as a feature editor, preferably in the service journalism arena, and have deep knowledge of the higher education community. Most of all, the candidate should be comfortable in a start-up environment, and have the passion and entrepreneurial drive to make a new venture succeed and thrive.
