The Community/Social Media Strategist employed by Internet Broadcasting assists Hearst Television stations in building referral traffic and overall audience from social media. The position helps in expanding, extending and leveraging stations’ brand presence on social to drive tune-in and increase engagement.

The ideal candidate lives and breathes social media and understands not only the social media ecosystem, but also digital marketing, online journalism values, digital advertising and paid media campaigns.


Optimizes CMS assets for social media.
Crafts posts to social networks to drive referral traffic back to sites.
Promotes posts and site content on social and search engines to grow site reach and generate traffic.
Manages and implements paid media campaigns.
Analyzes performance of paid media campaigns.
Monitors sites’ available ad inventory in order to generate the best ROI for promotion.
Utilizes tools to get the best exposure possible for content on the appropriate social platforms.
Assists stations in building talent presence on social media.
Assists stations in planning of social media related events and/or initiatives.
Creates unique, viral content in CMS that caters to brand followers and fans.
Identifies trends on social media and adapts them to benefit HTV digital goals.
Assists in communication of social best practices.
Suggests and executes group-wide social media campaigns.
Generates reports to assist in evaluating effectiveness of third-party tools and/or ROI for promotion.
Regularly interfaces with HTV digital team, station digital managers and on-air


Strong awareness of social network trends.
Adapts easily to change in the social media space.
Background knowledge of the differences between social networks, and what types of
content work best, given the target audience.
Working knowledge of the digital advertising space, SEO and SEM tactics.
Background with content management systems, Photoshop and social management
Ability to write engaging headlines, tweets, posts, etc. that can cater to a variety of
specific target audiences.
Strong news judgment.
Knowledge of legal and ethical issues surrounding digital media and social media.
Ability to identify trending content on social media.
Ability to work collaboratively with digital and broadcast journalists.
