Requirements:
This exciting new position offers the opportunity to work with the recently combined Houghton Mifflin Harcourt /Wiley culinary list, working on marketing efforts for titles by established superstars such as Mark Bittman, Dorie Greenspan and Jacques Pepin as well as revered brands such as Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Gardens. The marketing specialist will be responsible for independent projects and supporting ongoing promotional initiatives, working on assigned campaigns under the direction of the Marketing Director. The marketing specialist will write and design marketing and sales material and work with the e-marketing group to maintain and populate online marketing collateral. Strong writing, communication, organizational skills, attention to detail and experience managing a budget a must.

Experience with various online social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Tumbir, Instagram, WordPress) and a passion for cookbooks and familiarity with the food world a plus.

*Prepare materials for weekly and seasonal meetings, conferences, and events
*Assist with planning and organizing events
*Manage independent projects, including retail event kits for key titles, promotional materials, including copy and concept for bookmarks, postcards, and posters as well as headers for displays and sell sheets
*Write galley and advertising/promotional copy.
*Work with independent stores and specialty markets to originate promotions. Prepare materials for seasonal sales conferences
*Work with Director of Marketing and editorial team on creation and production of biannual seasonal catalog
*Create and organize materials and promotions for sales meetings with mass merchants (Target, Costco, supermarkets, etc.)
*Coordinate online outreach to websites and bloggers
*Assist with managing Houghton Mifflin Harcourt social media efforts

Qualifications:

*Bachelors of Arts or Bachelors of Science
*2 years experience in book marketing
*Excellent writing and organizational skills, ability to work independently, attention to detail, familiarity with budget management
