POSITION SUMMARY:

Roughly half of the position entails writing, reporting and updating content for an international luxury magazine’s website and its constellation of digital properties, including social media channels. This editor will be responsible for several content updates, and will research and develop story ideas, edit copy and collaborate with designers and other editors on feature packages. The balance of the position is in a support capacity to the managing editor of the site. Duties include entering content into the CMS, fact-checking and updating content and management of the full lifecycle of contracts and writer payments, as well as special projects as directed. The associate digital editor also supports and coordinates with other editors to ensure quality control of digital products.
The candidate must be willing to work in Greensboro. We will not consider any offers to telecommute.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years experience as a magazine and/or digital editor, preferably consumer-facing. Must know all aspects of editorial, including idea creation, assignments, writing, rewriting, line editing, collaborating with writers and photo editors, headline and display copy writing. Must be familiar with digital editorial production workflow and content management systems. Experience with organic search optimization a plus.

Skills: Complete familiarity with language, writing and editing; demonstrated excellence in copy writing, editing and display for the web; ability to meet demanding deadlines. Complete familiarity with content management systems, basic HTML and web design concepts. Keen eye for detail. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
•Writing, reporting and proofreading. Some assignments may require a quick turnaround.
•Create content and follow established tone and style guidelines.
•Contribute story ideas and creative ideas for presenting digital content.
•Fact checking and Proofreading.
•Maintain high quality control standards to ensure that the editorial content is accurate, reader-friendly and in line with client directives.
•Creating writer contracts, maintain contract database and managing the payment process through contract submission to Accounting Department.
