Kindle Newsstand is looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to oversee the creation, delivery and quality of digital magazines, newspapers, and other periodical content. You will own projects related to new types of content, new devices and country expansion. You will help define the policies, organizational structure, processes, and systems required to manage our global operation.
This position works closely with vendor and product management, publishers, and engineering to ensure our content reaches market on schedule and at the highest quality levels. Responsibilities include:
  • Team leadership and mentoring
  • Overseeing and tracking day-to-day production workflows, ensuring processes are documented, efficient, streamlined
  • Standard Operating Procedures development and roll-out related to new process creation
  • Establishing priorities, identifying and communicating risks and mitigation plans
  • Scheduling, trafficking, supervising and reporting on all phases of production
  • Building and maintaining vendor relationships, including experience in drafting, negotiating and executing contracts
  • Defining, diving and championing new technologies, collaborations, and improved processes, including leading continuous improvements in cost reduction, production time and pipeline capacity
  • Using operational metrics to drive process improvement

  • BA/BS required MBA or MS, MApreferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in operations/process development and improvement
  • 5+ years of experience building and leading effective teams in multiple locations
  • Experience managing multiple large volume, highly visible projects simultaneously, under tight deadlines
  • Familiarity with complex technology, file formats, data transmission and storage and XML
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficiency in analyzing large sets of data
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in digital content management

  • Process improvement experience such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and/or Operational Excellence
