Basic Function:
The Digital Producer will be guided by the Editor-at-Large in maintaining a consistent editorial tone on The producer will write online content and collect digital assets for publication. The producer will prepare material for the site and other digital properties with the guidance of an editorial calendar created by the Editor-at-Large. Quality control for the content creation process will be provided by the Web Operations Director. Oversight will be provided by the Director of Public Affairs and the Director of Digital Strategy. The producer will be expected to recommend timely, news-related content for online promotion — a responsibility shared with other members of the Web and Public Affairs teams.

The Digital Producer will gather and create online content in several ways. These include:

1. Regular contact with Aspen Institute program staff
2. Weekly check-ins with Web and Public Affairs staff
3. Participation in event-planning calls/meetings
4. Attendance at Policy Program meetings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manage content on homepage, multimedia page, featured content queues, featured event landing pages, online partner sites
•Work with community programs, public programs, and policy program contacts to manage content on location-specific landing pages
•Write blog posts and plan blog content with staff around the Institute
•Coordinate with Public Affairs staff on Web special features which can include video, social media, and live event coverage
•Build and improve systems to collect information and act on outreach opportunities for and about the Aspen Institute
•Consult with policy programs on ways to use the Institute site and other online properties more effectively
•Coordinate Web content that reflects the ongoing efforts of the Institute
•Present the Institute's work online in the context of contemporary news events
•Synchronize Web content from the bi-monthly newsletter, bi-annual magazine and blog

Principal Interactions:
Receives day-to-day direction from the Editor-at-Large. Regular interaction with the Director of Digital Strategy and the Web team, the Director of Public Affairs, Multimedia Producer, Social Media Coordinator and the VP for Communications. Routine contact with Institute program staff and leadership.

Knowledge, Education and Experience:
•BA or BS in journalism, public affairs or related field
•Minimum five years experience at a medium to large organization, preferably nonprofit or media
•Comfortable in a fast-paced digital publishing environment
•Experience writing for the Web
•Superior writing and editing skills
•Wide-ranging technical abilities
•Strong visual, oral and interpersonal communication skills
•Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Drupal, Photoshop, online analytics
•Project management expertise a plus
