The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is looking for a Sr. Speechwriter. This position will be the lead speechwriter for the SHRM President and CEO, focused on a variety of speeches, presentations and other written materials, including keynote addresses, monthly columns, video scripts, and conference scripts for the SHRM membership and external audiences. The position reports to the Director of Organizational Communications, but will work across the organization with a variety of people outside the function. The Manager oversees all aspects of CEO speeches and presentations, including support required at events. The position also provides support to SHRM’s Leadership Team as necessary.

•Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
•Must have 10 or more years of relevant experience;
•Strong background in writing with excellent editing and proofreading skills
•Must be able to draft quality speeches in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
•Must be able to demonstrate a flexible, adaptable and collaborative personality, with an insatiable curiosity and drive to provide creative and original thought
•Must have a proven track record in executive communication.
•Demonstrated aptitude for understanding complex issues and the ability to translate and simplify them for key audiences
•Strong research ability is required.
•An understanding and familiarity of the HR profession is preferable.
