Hardworking and organized team player needed to join our fast-paced editorial team in a full-time staff position.

The Production Artist/Junior Designer will assist the Senior Designer and Art Director in all stages of both print and digital production for The Knot, The Nest and The Bump. Candidates must possess an exceptional eye for design and detail. Previous production experience at a magazine is a big plus. This position requires the candidate to be responsible for seeing files through to completion and being resourceful to get things done.

Responsibilities will include:

-Moving approved designs through the production cycle in K4 with an eye on quality control (including tasks such as attaching articles,routing layouts, and flagging problematic image files)
-Downloading and tracking images from pre-press daily and placing high res images in layouts
-Administrative tasks including updating current issue wall and binders
-Supporting Senior Designer on quarterly iPad issues
-Designing templated FOB pages
-Occasionally format/design maps or simple vector art
-Long term projects including updating templates and style sheets to reflect changes in our design
-Serving as point person for file requests within company
-Liaising with Art Department Intern on their daily task assignments

Qualifications:

-2+ years in field of editorial design/production
-Must possess expert level of Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
-Minor retouching and color correction of high-res files in Photoshop
-Experience in K4 workflow and Adobe DPS
-Must be proactive with taking initiative in accomplishing the next task
-Excellent communication skills to work with our other offices outside of NYC
-Ability to stay organized and multi-task
