Pam Sommers
Full Time
Rizzoli is looking for a full-time Publicist with at least two years of experience publicizing illustrated books on architecture, art, lifestyle, interior design, fashion, and cuisine. You have great rapport with your media contacts, you know how to tailor a press list to the project, you write well, are highly organized, relentless with follow-up, and warmly diplomatic with first-time or seasoned authors. You also have experience managing author tours, remain calm under pressure, and are not daunted by the prospect of juggling a number of titles at the same time

You will be responsible for approximately 20 titles per season. This will entail drafting press releases, cover letters, and creating print, online, and broadcast media lists for each book. You will help organize tours, talks, book-signings, and other author events as appropriate, as well as tracking, logging, and reporting on your progress on each book in twice-monthly department meetings and brainstorming sessions. You will also be responsible for entering all confirmed and received press coverage, as well as capturing and saving on-line media coverage for your projects.

General department responsibilities will include assisting the marketing department with seasonal materials for sales reps which entails entering publicity plans and projections into TI sheets for upcoming books, and helping plan Author Event budgets on your titles each season. You will be expected to attend events for your authors and it is possible that you will also be tapped to attend BEA.

You will work hard on great projects, as part of a collegial team. The atmosphere and the work are creative, but you will be an ideal fit if your workplace style is highly organized and very orderly. It is assumed that you are fluent in basic computer programs like MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Office. Ideally, you have experience with Publicity Assistant software as well.
