Launched in 1994 as an imprint within the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group, Vintage Espanol has a backlist catalog of more than 200 titles, including works by Gabriel Garc?a M?rquez, Isabel Allende, Carlos Ruiz Zaf?n, Jorge Luis Borges, Paulo Coelho and Sandra Cisneros, . The group also publishes books translated from English by authors such as Ken Follett, John Grisham, George RR Martin, Stephen King, and EL James.

Vintage Books was founded in 1954 by Alfred A. Knopf as a trade paperback home to its
authors. Its publishing list includes a wide range, from the most influential works of world literature to cutting edge contemporary fiction and distinguished non-fiction.

Founded in 1953 Anchor Books is the oldest trade paperback publisher in America. The goal was to make inexpensive editions of modern classics widely available to college students and the adult public.

Your tasks
Vintage Espanol is seeking a passionate, curious, creative, and thoughtful designer to join our cover design team. The Junior Designer will:

- Design book cover mechanicals (in Spanish) and the occasional cover design (Spanish and English). [?mechanical? refers to an InDesign layout containing the front, spine, and back of a book cover]
- Work closely with our art director, managing editor, designers, and production managers.
- Measure twice and cut once. Maintain, contribute, and adhere to our best practices.

This position provides an opportunity to learn the inner workings of a New York publishing house while working beside some of the most talented designers in the industry. You will discover how books are manufactured, master designing for print, and take a front row seat for the unfolding future of book cover design in digital products.

Our requirements
Our ideal candidate possesses passion and ideas about how stories can be portrayed visually. Someone who always notices the tiny details and dies a little bit inside when spotting artifacts in the world with thoughtless design. Additional requirements for the position include:
- A portfolio that includes original book covers and self-started personal projects for which you had total creative control (be sure to include a link to your portfolio or upload samples that meet these guidelines)
- Fluency in Spanish and a thorough understanding of Hispanic culture.
- A genuine understanding of typography.
- A functional understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, and
- A sense of humor.
- The ability to juggle multiple projects and responsibilities whilst having fun.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- BA in Design or related discipline. In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant experience.
- Bonus: be comfortable with web technologies including but not limited to HTML, CSS, Javascript, and web design concepts.
