Director of Advertising & Strategy
Communication is the key to this position – exacting communication within briefs, communication of the strategy with internal creative team to ensure it is on point, connecting with on air, websites and new business for the most strategic communication and planning. Initiate media recommendations for brand priorities – TV, digital and new business campaigns – utilizing on and off air media. Develop positioning briefs for all on/off air properties. Collaborate with creative team for on and off channel creative for Food Network and Cooking Channel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Establish communication strategy and positioning for network priorities. - Food Category priority reconciliation/support (TV, digital, new biz) - Dissemination of network priorities/communication network departments - Management of Marketing/Advertising Budget - Off Air a) Briefing media and creative agencies on promotion/communication strategy b) Manage off channel media/creative agencies c) Develop innovative ways to approach media via traditional and non-traditional vehicles d) Utilize paid media partners for deeper partnership – via ad sales, editorial/pr, or other e) Oversee trafficking of materials to media outlets (with media agency) - Partner with On Air Manager to understand and collaborate on: a) Determining on-air/brand promotion priorities b) On-air and In-Program promotion strategy and placement c) Campaign strategy including creative testing d) Develop integrated platforms that extend beyond on/off air to benefit digital, new business, Food Category, and cross network e) Selection/timing/prioritization of non paid barter partnerships with cable and other media Other Duties and Responsibilities: Serve as the creative liaison and interface with other networks to best define and implement ongoing priorities and maximize cross-promotional opportunities for the Scripps Interactive Food, Home, Travel and Entertainment Categories.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to think creatively and analytically - Ability to communicate strategy clearly to a team - Organization and time management skills - Ability to manage financial resources - Ability to prioritize and clearly focus the workload of the teamMinimum Educational and Experience Requirements - 8-10 years agency and/or entertainment media experience preferred - Experience managing multi-million dollar budgets - College degree preferredDisclaimer: The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and the level of work performed by employees within this classification.
