Your tasks
Reporting to the Group Marketing Manager based in the UK, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing the marketing strategy and plans in order to successfully develop journals and launch new titles in the Clinical Medicine portfolio.

The role will require working closely with the Publisher to understand the portfolio?s objectives and how they fit within the company?s overall strategy, and to develop and execute an appropriate marketing strategy to drive submissions, increase usage, and raise awareness of the journals and BioMed Central.

Using the full marketing mix, but particularly with an online focus, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for all activity for the journals within their portfolio. This role also involves responsibility for the marketing of various subject- and journal-related events hosted by BioMed Central. The position includes line management of staff based in the UK.

The successful candidate will have marketing experience, preferably within the STM publishing or online environment and will be looking to take the next step in a busy and challenging role. You will be a highly-organised marketing professional with excellent communication, proofreading, and copywriting skills. An interest in science and open access is also desirable.

The role is office based but does involve occasional international travel to the company?s London headquarters and to conferences and exhibitions.

Our requirements
?Broad knowledge and experience of marketing to authors and librarians
?Minimum of 3 years of marketing experience, preferably in a publishing or online environment
?Knowledge of STM/ or journal publishing and/or related science industry
?Ability to set SMART objectives, analyze results of campaigns and report on ROI
?Line management experience / experience of managing other people?s workload
?Email marketing experience and expertise
?Excellent written and verbal communication skills
?Experience of setting and managing budgets
?An eye for detail and accuracy
?Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to juggle several projects at once
?Highly computer literate
?Excellent copywriting skills
?Must be able to work to tight deadlines and react quickly to changing priorities
?A good team player
?Degree or equivalent level of education

Additional desirable experience includes:
?A knowledge/ awareness of open access
?An interest in science
