Macmillan Children's Publishing Group seeks a full-time Designer to become a part of the Advertising and Promotion Department. The Designer will conceptualize and design a wide range of marketing and sales materials including, but not limited to, print and online advertisements, displays, brochures, posters, signage, activity kits, and a variety of promotional items.


The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of print and web design, be detail-oriented, able to meet tight deadlines, and be passionate about book publishing.


Requirements



RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Work with the Director of Advertising and Promotion, as well as additional project managers, to develop and create ad campaigns, as well as, marketing and sales materials

· Work with marketing and production departments and printers, to ensure that final products are of a high quality and delivered in a timely fashion

· Create and execute flash animations/ads, animated gifs, and web pages

· Receive and utilize constructive criticism/suggestions from project managers

· Prepare files for release to vendors using standard industry procedures

· Review proofs and prototypes carefully, ensuring that trim size, registration, color and layout are perfect

· Contact an internal art department and outside vendors directly to discuss and resolve art problems

· Maintain and archive files according to departmental procedures and standards

· Continue to gain knowledge in the field through ongoing education and training

· Perform other assignments as necessary



QUALIFICATIONS:

· College degree

· 2+ years design experience

· Advanced knowledge, trouble shooting skills and proficiency in
InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash, HTML 5, Action Script, Java Script, development for mobile devices and the Mac operating system.

· Working knowledge of HTML and CSS

· High standard of typography, design and branding work as shown by a quality portfolio.
Has worked with marketers and can follow creative briefs, take direction, and create several design options

· Time management, exceptional attention to detail and visual problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast paced environment
