The individual should be a strong leader and have experience in building vendor relationships in contact negotiations, managing inventory, and developing a team. Experience in large contract negotiations with external partners is a must. This person will have worked in a retail environment ideally in ecommerce, but could also work supporting ecommerce such as management consulting, investment banking, technical integration work or finance support. This person will be flexible, action and results oriented, self-starting, have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable with computer databases and tools. He or she must have a proven track record in taking ownership, driving results and moving with speed to implement ideas in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to succeed at: understanding and driving improvements across the full profit and loss statement, team-building, planning and forecasting, and driving sales in an online business. This role is essentially a divisional GM role and the ideal candidate will have that background. He or she will likely have run a catalog business or the ecommerce site for a physical retailer. Alternatively, this leader will have worked in the online space for either an ecommerce company or closely with one as a client or business partner. He or she will definitely have managed a P&L in hundreds of millions with multiple functions reporting to him or her including line functions for revenue generation and the operational cost side as well as staff functions.
