Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in English or journalism, and a minimum of five years of professional writing, editing, and proofreading experience, which are essential qualifications for this position. Deadline-driven and highly organized, the ideal candidate must be a top-notch communicator -- flexible, inventive, and possess the ability to interact with all levels of the company.Must have a valid driver's licenseMust be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.Responsibilities: The Writer/Editor will assist in the production of the company’s internal and external publications including suggesting and writing stories; editing copy and seeing that all necessary approvals are obtained; arranging for and supervising photography; and coordinating artwork. These publications include, but are not limited to, the company’s newsletter for employees, materials for retirees, and publications on websites for various company organizations and departments. The position involves advanced, strategic development of editorial concepts, superior editorial activities (including writing, copyediting, fact checking, and proofreading), and skill in researching, interviewing, and compilation of background material. The Writer/Editor will be responsible for coordinating team efforts with numerous internal/external clients. From initial concept through final publication, the Writer/Editor will be a highly responsible element in the delivery of effective corporate communications. The Writer/Editor will report to the Section Manager, Corporate Communications, and will serve as emergency responder and participate in all aspects of public affairs responsibilities during emergencies and assist in preparation of emergency preparedness information.
