Job Description / Responsibilities:

The PR and Media Relations Manager will play a key role within the editorial and marketing departments, developing brand awareness and securing national and regional press, traffic, and linkbacks for a new brand via traditional and new media channels. This is a newly-created, independent, self-starting position that will devise strategy and oversee implementation for a 6-month tenure, with the possibility of extension.

Key Duties include:

• Develop and implement a strategic PR program to achieve significant increase in brand awareness.
• Draft project plan with key metrics, objectives and targets and obtain approval.
• Oversee implementation and delivery of approved plan.
Duties include:
• Formulate policies and procedures related to PR and media relations programs.
• Analyze and measure results of PR program. Analyze and report social media, PR and linkback actions and results on a monthly basis for successes and new opportunities
• Assess, recruit and cultivate identified key media outlets.
• Research top influencers, competitors, and trends in HR industry.
• Develop and pitch compelling stories to both national and local media. Achieve highest visibility in online media outlets. Prepare timely and targeted press releases and by-lined articles optimized for platform used and intended audience.
• Identify media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities.
• Proactively manage editorial calendars.
• Oversee social media campaigns which include but are not limited to: research, campaign & content creation, execution, monitoring and reporting.
• Liaise with editorial content team, participate in team meetings, advise on projects, offer insights to editorial efforts and initiatives.
• Ensure a solid branding message is reflected in outreach efforts.
• Respond to requests for information about product or company activities or status.
• Help prepare materials for presentations for company staff, and arrange interviews and other forms of contact for them.

Ideal candidates will possess most or all of the following qualifications:
• Extensive relevant experience in public relations and communications.
• Established relationships with general business trade press/analyst/blogger communities.
• Proven successes in both traditional and interactive PR channels.
• Acute sense of judgment, tact and diplomacy.
• Very strong writing skills and superior interpersonal communication skills needed. Mastery of rules of grammar essential. (writing samples required with resume)
• Must be highly organized and able to multitask and work within deadlines.
• A strong sense of teamwork and ability to both manage AND execute programs independently.
• BS/BA Degree.
• Excellent knowledge of SEO best practices.
• Excellent knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.

Skills and other pluses:
• Proficiency with basic computer and PR applications including Google Docs and News Alerts, MS Office Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Avid consumer of business and legal news.
