ABC News Digital is looking for a Deputy Editor to manage newsroom staff, coordinate story and multimedia content assignments, contribute to content and monetization strategy, and help lead the editorial team.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in editorial newsroom management, with a track record of performance in vertical areas such as Health, Technology, or Business. The candidate should be fluent in digital media, with at least 8 years experience in a major market news organization, preferably in digital, including at least 5 years management experience. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with a proven record of digital media storytelling using social media, and fluency in content management systems, blogging platforms, and search engine optimization.

The Deputy Editor will have the opportunity to be a prominent editorial leader for ABCNews.com, which in alliance with Yahoo News reaches the largest digital audience of any news site in America.

Basic qualifications:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or comparable field
# Years Work Experience: Minimum 8 years in major market news organization

Non-Technical Skills:
-At least 5 years newsroom management, including story assignment and personnel management
- At least 8 years journalism experience at a major market news organization, preferably in digital media
-Must be able to develop, pitch and edit stories in all coverage areas of ABC News
-Original editing and writing skills, including ability to work with writers of vary experience levels
-Superior news judgment and ability to find primary sources for news and feature stories
-Strong communication skills
-Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects, and tasks
-Well-organized and capable of coping with changing priorities and work requirements
-Creative, dynamic idea generator who can pitch unique content and concepts
-Extensive Experience with content management systems, blog software, or other digital expertise
-Advanced knowledge of Social Media tools and Search Engine Optimization (SEO)


Preferred qualifications:
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Journalism or comparable field
# Years Work Experience: Minimum 10 years in major market news organization

Non-Technical Skills:
-At least 5 years newsroom management, including story assignment and personnel management
- 10 plus years journalism experience at a major market news organization, preferably in digital media
