Senior Political Editor
The DC/ Sr. Political Editor for Digital is responsible for managing all reporting and multimedia assignments across ABC News Digital efforts in Politics and the DC Bureau.Specifically, the position is responsible for story development, multimedia reporting; curating and aggregating content; sourcing and expertise development; social media, SEO and web publishing best practices; collaborating on all platforms; maintaining high journalistic standards; and be the lead Digital voice in our DC Bureau.The Sr. Political Editor will manage the DC digital team while also liaising with DC beat reporters, this includes encouraging digital pitch process with all DC bureau staff members and managing political and strong regional stories from green-light to publication. The incumbent should be prepared to represent digital to the wider news division and participate in network wide political initiatives/coverage planning. Excellent communication skills are a must, including the ability to work in lockstep and communicate editorial plans to digital senior team in New York.Required Education: College Degree or equivalent work experienceMinimum of 5 years of digital web experienceFamiliarity with databases that track metrics for the webNon-Technical Skills:-Must have five or more years of interactive media experience-Familiarity with content managing systems and blogging software-Experience working with talent, and extensive background managing daily web content production-Excellent written and verbal skills-Demonstrated leadership; analytical skills; communication skills and journalistic foundations-Flexible schedule-Candidate will be required to handle breaking news stories in a fast paced news environment with assigned deadlinesPreferred Qualifications -Should have experience creating and integrating unique, story-driven video content.-At least three years experience managing a staff of digital reporters and creating a day-to-day editorial assignment plan is preferred, with an interest in recruiting talented journalists to grow the staff and expand the coverage of OTUSNews.com into a dynamic political news destination-Three years of managerial skills and be responsible for overseeing freelance budgetsOnline application only.
