The IB offers an excellent benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life insurance/short & long-term disability plans, and a spacious working environment very close to the Bethesda Metro.We are currently looking for a:Production EditorAs part of the Publishing Services team, our production editors (PEs) work with curriculum development teams to plan for and produce the curriculum documents required by schools to deliver our programmes, and with our acquisitions team to produce resources for sale on our online store. These are published in English, French and Spanish, and other languages as required, and so PEs also work closely with our Language Services team. PEs undertake copyediting or production work as the need arises, but also work closely with external suppliers and with other IB staff to facilitate the publishing process. We require: * A degree, or equivalent experience * An excellent command of the English language * Proven editorial and production experience in a publishing environment, to include dealing with external suppliers and working on a variety of print and online publications * Excellent project management skills, including time management and organizational skills, and good interpersonal skills * An excellent eye for detail, and the ability to complete work accurately and consistently * Confidence with a variety of different software packages.We offer: * An excellent benefits package: medical/dental/vision plans; life insurance plans; company paid short/long-term disability plans, as well as, pension-retirement plan, generous vacation/PTO programs and holiday schedule. * A spacious working environment, close to the Bethesda Metro * Full on-the-job training, although good copyediting skills are required * Personal and professional development opportunities * An international setting.Typical duties: * Commission external editors, designers, illustrators, designers, typesetters and proofreaders as appropriate, to ensure an efficient, high quality and cost effective workflow. * Act as project manager for assigned projects, in various languages, to ensure that all elements of the publishing process remain within the agreed scope, schedules, budgetary constraints and quality standards. * Manage the editing and proofreading of assigned English-language publications, working closely with authors, translators, designers, developers and external suppliers as required. * Manage the production work (including formatting/page layout, scanning/image manipulation, print/CD/HTML production stages) of assigned publications in all languages, working closely with translators, designers, developers and external suppliers as required. * Ensure that publications are uploaded to the appropriate websites, and sales stock is made available on time. * Provide advice and guidance to authors and other IB staff as required on matters relating to our house style, grammar, syntax, and editorial and production practices, templates, procedures and outputs.
