We do it as part of our coverage - in a dedicated space that lets local charities and volunteers find each other - and with a program called "Give 5," through which we donate advertising space to charitable organizations and contribute our own time as volunteers. Our teams care about and live in Patch communities. After Hurricane Sandy, our Local Editors listened to their communities about what their needs were. This resulted in a global corporate initiative to get badly needed goods to those areas most affected. Role: Head of PR & CommunicationsThe goal of this position is to drive UVs, visits/UV, revenue and other clearly defined metrics, using ROI-proven initiatives -- as well as measurably increasing brand visibility locally, regionally and nationally. This position will manage the development and implementation of internal and external communication strategies, with the goal of establishing and maintaining a favorable image of Patch with employees, partners and the public.Communications - Principal Responsibilities: * Senior strategist and member of the executive team at Patch * Responsible for developing and articulating the Patch position on a variety of internal and external communications elements including: marketing, communications strategy, public policy, community affairs, media presence, etc. that effect the general public, and employees * Oversee the system of information dissemination, providing targeted information to employees, partners and the public to inform and educate our constituents on Patch * Manage the overall communications vision and direction for the Corporate Communications department through analyzing, formulating and monitoring communications needs and issues * Help manage all proactive and reactive press opportunities * Ensure strong relations with members of the pressRequirements: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning is required with an advanced degree (MBA, equivalent) a plus * 12-15 years of public relations/corp comm/media experience * Understanding of the digital and local spaces * Experience leading, developing and nurturing a team * Strong media relationships * Experience leading communications strategy planning and execution * Idea driven with strong understanding of metrics, data and analysis * History of anticipating issues and the skills to be strategic, proactive and aggressive * Passion for a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment Patch offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including 401(k) match and performance bonus.
