CFR.org is the Council’s award-winning website that is a leading source of content , analysis , and foreign policy options. It publishes a mix of resources, including interactive Crisis Guides, Daily News briefs, backgrounders, and interviews with foreign policy leaders. CFR.org collaborates closely with CFR’s think tank staff on its content, and features insights from CFR Fellows in a number of ways, including Expert Briefs, op-eds, and podcasts.

The Staff Writer will work under the direction of the site’s Editor, and will work closely with the CFR.org team as well as the think tank staff. The responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
•Serve as CFR.org’s main staff editor/writer on global economic developments and policy, including global finance, energy security and science/technology. The staff writer will be expected to research, report, and write Backgrounders on a regular basis.
•Contribute to compiling the Daily News Brief (DNB) on occasion during the business week. The DNB is a newsletter with more than 25,000 subscribers that gives a daily roundup of major international new developments from a wide range of English-language sources.
•Conduct interviews with experts and policymakers and produce material that relates to major news developments in beat area (see above).
•Serve as the website’s principal liaison with CFR’s Center for Geoeconomic Studies, including discussing and coordinating website coverage with the Center’s staff on a regular basis.
•Copy edit and proofread the work of other staffers.

Preferred Qualifications:
•Minimum 3 years experience writing for a daily news publication, preferably online; experience writing on economic topics strongly preferred
•Ability to write and process information under deadlines
•Degree in global economics, public policy, or related field with high academic achievement
•Strong writing, reporting, editing, and proofreading skills
•Experience using Adobe Photoshop and web publishing tools
•Availability to work early mornings( beginning at 7:00 am) and weekends on occasion
