About the Position

Reporting to the Senior Director, Alumni & Donor Relations, and this position will develop and execute a strategy for catalyzing, monitoring, and measuring the long-term engagement of Kellogg alumni through a life cycle of experiences and opportunities. This is a position for an experienced and energetic leader with a talent for relationship marketing, a background in quantifying engagement and an understanding of stakeholder engagement in mission-driven organizations. The Director of Alumni Engagement will develop and implement a strategy that builds and engages a global pipeline of Kellogg advocates, donors and ambassadors. The Director of Alumni Engagement will manage a team of 8 direct reports responsible for coordinating alumni relations around the world, supporting and guiding alumni club activity and engaging high-potential alumni leaders through four regional Kellogg Alumni Councils. The Director of Alumni Engagement will work closely with the Senior Director, Alumni and Donor Relations, the Community Manager, the Director of Annual Giving and other members of the Alumni Relations team, and will partner with leaders throughout Kellogg and with alumni around the world. The Director of Alumni Engagement will be required to build cross-school relationships with administrators, faculty and students to gain the greatest possible visibility into where, when and how Kellogg alumni currently engage with the school. Some scheduled night and weekend work may be required. Some travel (including international) may be required.

This critical role:
• Responsible for the leadership and management of employees assigned to Kellogg Advancement;
• Responsible for recruiting and selecting, developing and coaching, rewarding and retaining, and optimizing talent;
• Responsible for embedding Kellogg School of Management's mission/strategy, leadership philosophy/approach, and performance driven culture into Kellogg Advancement;
• Provides strategic direction to and operational oversight of staff responsible for building alumni engagement in distinct regional markets (Northeast, Midwest, West, South, Asia, Latin America and EMEA) and for identifying, recruiting, and training a network of alumni volunteers and leaders who serve in a variety of positions and roles;
• Provides strategic direction to and operational oversight of staff responsible for supporting and guiding alumni club activity (including optimization of alumni club structure, administration, and succession planning) and for engaging high-potential alumni leaders in four regional Kellogg Alumni Councils committed to the mission of elevating the alumni experience;
• Develops and executes a strategy for catalyzing, monitoring, and measuring the long-term engagement of Kellogg alumni through a life cycle of experiences and opportunities;
• Optimizes engagement metrics and an engagement scorecard, creating and managing business processes that capture and report on alumni engagement with the objective of correlating engagement behaviors to philanthropic behaviors;
• Leverages the Kellogg online community platform both as a venue for creating engagement opportunities for alumni and as a source of data for measuring both individual and aggregate alumni engagement;
• Ensures the alignment of alumni leaders with the school's vision and strategic needs, particularly regarding promotion Kellogg's thought leadership strategy to alumni;
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
• 12 years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, political campaigns, advocacy, alumni relations or a related function;
• 7-10 years managing at multiple direct reports;
• Proficiency in overseeing and conducting quantitative customer and/or stakeholder research, including experience developing segmentation, designing reports and developing business processes that ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:
• An MBA or other advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired;
• 10 years managing multiple direct reports.
