ALM Media is seeking a Financial Analyst to provide financial and operational support in the areas of budgeting, forecasting, month end closes and business planning.

• Work with business leaders to build and analyze budgets and forecasts
• Work closely with operations to develop tools and analyses to increase the productivity/profitability of business units
• Provide direct support for 2 key business units, the New York Law Journal & National Law Journal. The position includes budgeting, assisting with the monthly close, forecasting, revenue reporting, risk assessment, and other Ad-hoc duties relating to these publications
• Assist business units with analysis of new initiatives, programs, promotions and other business development opportunities
• Assist the accounting & operations departments with the month-end close and budget process
• Report on financial results and key metrics against appropriate base comparisons (prior year, budget, reforecast); perform in-depth analyses to prepare and present business projections & deviations from plan
• Develop ad-hoc reports using Excel and other financial systems

• Bachelors degree in finance or accounting is a must
• 5+ years of experience within an accounting or finance department; work experience in publishing or media is a big plus
• Must have solid experience with accounting fundamentals
• Experience working on the month-end closing process
• Experience with budget process
• Strong experience with financial modeling. Ability to produce metrics reports such as dashboards/scorecards.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel using pivot tables and macros
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• FRX (Forecasting tool) experience is a plus
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proven track record of system implementation and enhancement
• Reporting skills, financial diagnosis, Microsoft Solomon reporting software, Analyzing Information, Statistical Analysis, process improvement, financial planning and strategy.
