Web & Social Media Analyst

Imagination is one of America’s leading content marketing agencies. We’re located in downtown Chicago, and we serve an interesting mix of B2B, B2C and association clients. The Web & Social Media Analyst works with internal teams (account, development, content) to construct measurable digital marketing programs for our clients. We use Google Analytics for most of it, but we also use various tools such as Google AdWords, Hubspot, Hootsuite, Facebook Insights, SproutSocial, SEOMoz, Compete and others in order to provide a comprehensive picture of our clients’ marketing programs.


This role will be responsible for implementations of Google Analytics, will provide ongoing management of analytics accounts, and will perform and deliver detailed site and/or channel analysis and custom reporting on a weekly or monthly basis. Experience working with web and social data & tools is a must.

Main Responsibilities

Project planning

Identify client objectives and suggest suitable analytics solutions, ensuring that all required performance data can be reliably tracked and reported. This may involve proposing solutions outside of pure analytics, e.g. working with social media or paid search platform APIs.


Produce marketing dashboards and weekly/monthly/quarterly reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and various APIs/third-party tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, HootSuite, etc.)

Conduct on-demand marketing campaign analysis for internal and external clients, using the aforementioned tools (and others, too).

Client Focus

Present and effectively communicate data and insights to clients and our internal team. You must be a strong communicator and adept at providing supporting evidence for recommendations and suggestions offered.

Assist in educating internal and external clients on the importance of online measurement


Identify data patterns (positive or negative) as they impact marketing campaigns, site usability or performance.

Ability to suggest new methodologies and/or improvements to our analytics or reporting processes

Use available data sources to deep dive and troubleshoot tracking and measurement issues

Collaborate with the design, development and SEO teams for multi-disciplined project work

Collaborate with the search and social teams to troubleshoot and enhance client reporting and performance measurement through robust analytics implementations

Key Skills and Experience

At least two (2) years overseeing the implementation and configuration of Google Analytics and/or other web data platforms, GAIQ Certification preferred

Deep experience with Microsoft Excel (VBA, pivot tables, etc.), PowerPoint and/or other presentation software

Understanding of (or passion to learn about) the technical aspects of web analytics, SEO & conversion optimization
