Reporting to the Director of Career Education & Advising and to the Executive Director of EMBA Career Management, the Assistant Director will handle overall program, training, and office administration for the Columbia Business School Coaching Program (CCP.) He or she will also develop, edit and maintain content for the CMC’s online digital library and assist in the development of online learning content. In addition, he or she will actively track key CMC data metrics for the both full-time and EMBA programs. Lastly, he or she may also support the overall Career Management Center as needed on a variety of projects and events related to student education and advising.


1.Manage the daily needs of the coaching program which includes needs of the CCP, including executing important communications to coaches and students, maintaining continuous efforts to further engage professional coach roster via communications and programming, coordinating room assignments for on-campus coaching sessions, handling student requests and questions regarding coaching, and dealing with requests and questions from CCP coaches. Manage production and distribution of any CCP materials to students and/or coaches.

2.Manage the execution and evaluation of coach-led programs, including tabulation of coach performance ratings on monthly basis, compilation of CCP utilization data, and gathering and assessing student feedback. Utilize Career Management Center online technology to track and manage all CCP appointments.

3.Assist with execution of ongoing coach training programs, including intensive on-campus workshops as well as monthly group meetings to discuss case issues and share best practices. Coordinate all CCP meetings and training by managing communication between coaches and Career Management Center. Attend monthly meetings and annual intensive CCP training sessions.

4.Manage recruiting, training and employment logistics of CCP coaches. Process and track coaching invoices on weekly and monthly basis and maintain spreadsheet records of all CCP transactions. Coordinate submission of invoices to Financial Planning department and facilitate any communication between coaches and University financial personnel.

5.Update coach training materials, including CCP Handbook. Support creation and management of any web-based CCP content for coaches or students, including development of new technology to manage CCP administration.

6.Track and report on various key data metrics for both the full-time and EMBA student populations, and assist in problem-solving the implications and actions resulting from the data.

7.Create, edit and maintain various video content for the CMC’s online digital library. Work closely with the Manager of the Career Management Library/Digital Media as well as work with the Manager of Multimedia for the EMBA Career Management team to coordinate efforts in online video content.

8.Lead efforts to produce, launch and maintain new online learning programs.

9.Support Director of Career Education & Advising and Executive Director of EMBA Career Management with special projects related to coaching and career education, including event and workshop administration.

10.Provide additional support to overall Career Management Center with career development related programming and events.

Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 2-4 years related experience required.

Minimum Requirements:
Must have excellent office skills essential including strong computing skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access.) Facility with digital media tools and software preferred (e.g. camera experience, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere). Some previous experience with online learning programs preferred. Strong professional demeanor and tact with a customer service orientation needed. Must be able to manage difficult situations with firmness and diplomacy. Experience in higher education and corporate settings is desired. Strong written and oral communication skills imperative. Must be able to work early mornings on a seasonal basis and some evenings.
