Wenner Media, publisher of Rolling Stone, Us Weekly, and Men’s Journal magazines seeks a Digital Advertising Operations Director to oversee the digital ad operations of, and The Director will be responsible for management of all direct advertising campaigns, project management on all programs from sale through to implementation, programmatic and premium programmatic delivery, audience targeting and pixel-tracking, and yield optimization across online, tablet and smartphone platforms. This role will work closely with the sales development, marketing, and digital operations teams to communicate and execute advertising programs, ensure that client expectations are met, and maintain operational excellence for our projects and programs. This position reports to the Chief Digital Officer.


- Work with various internal business units on establishing policy, process and procedure as it pertains to advertising operations support
- Work with Producers, Management, Editors and site developers on new ad units and new ad tagging schemas as well as any enhancements to current ad tags whether it be for new sites, redesigns or new sections
- Vendor management (i.e.: Doubleclick, Google Ad Exchange, etc.)
- Escalation point for any issues as they pertain to creative issues, ad tagging, inventory and/or campaigns delivery
- Collaborate with sales management, business units and producers on proposals as well as innovative ways to monetize the site
- Work with sales on RFPs and Proposals from an inventory and custom creative standpoint
- Maintain master inventory avails and sponsorship calendar, updating numbers on an as needed basis.
- Proactively communicate sell through and delivery issues to sales on a weekly basis
- Oversee Account Management and Ad Ops staff to ensure advertising campaigns are posted in a timely manner as well as optimized weekly to guarantee scope of campaigns are fulfilled.
- Monitor campaign delivery, investigating discrepancies with clients, agencies and third-party platforms as needed.
- Monitor employee performance, pinpointing areas that need improvement and working with employee on resolution.
- Manage employee expectations with respect to job description, output and performance levels


* Candidate must have a minimum 8-10 years of managing a digital ad ops team, as well as managing relationships with vendors, internal sales, marketing and digital operations departments.
* Expert understanding of online ad serving, tablet ad serving, mobile smartphone ad serving, programmatic and premium programmatic ad serving, audience targeting and pixel-tracking, rich media and best practices required.
* Expert HTML, page/ad tag coding understanding.
* Expert in Yield Optimization strategies, tactics, and implementation
* Proficient in Excel, Photoshop and PowerPoint.
* Superior organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
* Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
* Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to be a team player as well as work independently.
