•Work with Editor in Chief to guide content from concept to publication
•Assign features and departments
•Review and respond to queries and reader feedback
•Recruit new freelance authors
•Produce the table of contents and write captions and callouts
•Organize and assign web companions for print stories
•Propose features, stories for departments, and new types of content
•Write features and departments as needed
•Edit features and departments
•Manage pre-production edits and page proofs
•Supervise freelance copy editor
•Help plan issues for the coming year
•Edit online content produced by magazine staff
•Write online content as needed
•Manage headquarters staff with Editor in Chief (3-5 staff)

•Undergraduate degree in English, history, or journalism with a minimum of 8-10 years of work experience, including at least 5 years of professional level print magazine experience in editing, writing, and production, with demonstrated experience creating content that reflects and engages culturally diverse audiences preferably in a multi-platform environment;
•Experience managing complex, deadline driven projects and processes, along with some supervisory experience;
•Excellent command of the written word;
•Exceptional organizational skills;
•Experience utilizing publishing software; familiarity with digital media a plus.
