Director, Media Outreach
Essential Competencies of the Successful Candidate-Strategic understanding of the media environment; including the range of different outlets and the evolving state of the media business. -Ability to strategically place and prepare and support executives and spokespersons in media outlets. -Ability to think creatively and analytically, and apply skills to problem-solving and high-level strategy implementation. -Very strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver effective presentations and draft diverse styles of communications ranging from Tweets to white papers. -Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence, establish trust and rapport, negotiate, resolve conflicts and effectively coach employees and members of management. Ability to display a high level of professionalism and serve as an external ambassador for Communities In Schools. -Demonstrated ability to assess priorities and manage a variety of projects in a fast-paced environment. Education/Prior Experience -Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years working in the area of advocacy or public policy media, either through a presidential administration or with an advocacy related nonprofit organization.-Proven track record of results gained from pitching news stories and opinion pieces in a competitive news environment.-Previous or existing relationships with reporters, editors and/or producers in the education and education policy sectors. -Prior experience working seamlessly across both traditional and new media.Please forward résumé and cover letter with salary history to email@example.com with “Director, Media Outreach” in subject line.
