DESCRIPTION:The Production Accountant will monitor, track and report on News and Programs expenses. The ideal candidate is a self starter with strong interpersonal and partnering skills who enjoys a broad range of responsibilities.RESPONSIBILITIES: Review Cost Estimation Sheets (CES) and Commission and Acquisition Documents (CAD) to ensure budgeted items are reasonable. Assign and track story codes for news and track program codes issued by scheduling.Keep track of approved CES’s and CAD’s; update actual spending records in the relevant cost sheet on a regular basis.Work closely with scheduling and programming unit manager to track and completion and transmission of programs.Work closely with Accounts Payable. Review all News and Programs invoices to ensure all relevant costs are charged to correct cost codes and keep track of the actual spending.Prepare and send monthly budget versus actual variance analysis reports based on CES’s and CAD’s.Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts for News and Programs.Develop strong working relationship with Production Coordinator(s) in News and Programs.Point person for News and Programs for all financial queries.Support monthly accounting close and variance reporting.Support ad hoc reporting and analysis requests.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 3-5 years Production/Newsroom Accountant experience.Prior experience working in television is required.Ability to work independently, under pressure and to manage deadlines.Strong verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.Must have excellent working knowledge of Excel. Knowledge of Accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics & FRx, SAP) preferred.Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
