- Bachelor's degree required. MBA preferred.

- Minimum of 7 years of/in marketing and/or sales field, preferably in a journals publishing environment. Background in direct response and analysis as well as market research (both qualitative and quantitative). Incumbent's experience must include management of outside market research suppliers, familiarity with market research techniques and the ability to analyze and synthesize research data. Must possess knowledge of and/or experience with circulation auditing processes. Also must possess experience in hiring, training, and supervising subordinates. Possesses and applies knowledge of and/or experience with BPA and postal auditing processes, as appropriate.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills are critical for the position

Responsible for directly managing the creation, management and execution of comprehensive strategic marketing and promotion plans for the APA print journals line within expense budget and in order to help maximize product sales. Such plans delineate for the journals product line both strategic and promotional strategies, and include promotional expenditures by media channel, product positioning, competition, target markets and market trends; they may also include marketing launch plans for new products. All plans must be implemented within budget and in order to maximize print journal product sales (meeting or exceeding target annual revenue goals).

Responsible for all internal and external marketing communications relating to the print journals line to increase paid circulation (renewal and acquisition) and readership awareness to member individual, nonmember individual, and institutional markets. Product marketing objectives to be accomplished through a variety of promotion

Exercises hiring/firing/supervisory authority over one Assistant Marketing Manager, Journals.

Responsible for regular communication with, coordination of marketing activities with, and provision of product information to marketing/sales/publisher relations staff of subscription agents that sell APA journal products. Extensive interactions with originating offices / developers, including the Senior Director of APA Journals, the Senior Director of Membership/Publication Services, the Director of Service Center Operations, and their respective staffs. Provides APA sales/marketing staff current product and promotion information/materials and competitive intelligence to facilitate both sales and vendor relations. Travels to/staffs APA-attended conferences, serving as booth captain as assigned, as well as vendor offices and other destinations on an as-needed basis.
