Job Description

National Journal is pleased to announce efforts to expand our Washington, DC -based advertising sales team. To fuel our growth ambitions, we are currently seeking a highly driven, bright, entrepreneurial individual with a passion for publishing, politics, and sales to join us in this pursuit.

The Account Manager will play a critical role within our fast-paced advertising sales team and will be focused on cultivating new business and growing relationships with advertising clients across all of our products, including National Journal, National Journal Daily, National Journal Hotline, NationalJournal.com, National Journal Live and Convention Daily.

Responsibilities Include:

*Conduct research on and become familiar with prospective advertisers, their legislative and branding goals, and issue areas
*Create and track persuasive communication efforts to promote advertising opportunities and overall NJ brand, including email, phone call, letter correspondence, and face to face meeting campaigns
*Engage in rigorous prospecting and follow-up with potential advertisers to expand the revenue pipeline
*Develop deep and personal relationships with advertising prospects
*Update progress with advertisers daily and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue projections through Salesforce.com
*Track advertisers in competitive publications and websites
*Participate in advertising staff meetings and events
*Fulfill various sales quotas for revenue, meetings, market share and other related activities

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

*2-4 years previous sales experience or previous digital and print sales a must; publishing experience helpful
*Excellent relationships at both the client and agency level
*Willingness and ability to travel
*Goal driven with outstanding record of achievement in current/past positions
*Superior professionalism, discretion, and judgment
*Strong work ethic and capacity to thrive in a team environment
*Creativity, persistence and tenacity
*Strong analytics and real-time judgment
*Effective time management and organization skills
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Keen attention to detail
*Spirit of generosity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
*Bachelor's degree
