Position Overview:
This position serves as a writer and editor in the fast-paced Marketing and Communications department for all types of materials, from advertising copy to articles for publications, exhibit copy and more.


Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Write long and short copy on multiple topics including: marketing, development/fundraising, and education topics. Interviews, researches and writes articles for Liberty Science Center (LSC) publications such as regularly occurring publications, website, teacher magazine, e-newsletters and more.
• Prepares headlines, decks, captions and other supporting content.
• Serves as a liaison to internal clients regarding their print pieces to brainstorm ideas; determine proper audience, voice and length; and make sure their pieces are written within the designated timeline.
• Fact-checks all LSC pieces and pieces submitted from freelancers, as needed.
• Contributes to LSC’s social networking and helps innovate new ways to promote the LSC’s mission online.
• Serves as copyeditor for all LSC materials, including publications, the website, advertisements, exhibit materials and signage. Edits for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style and length and fact-checks for accuracy.

Other Tasks:
• Researches and locates photographs.
• Assists with development and maintenance of LSC style guide.

Experience/Qualifications:
Must have 2-4 years related experience. Candidates must have a love of writing and editing and proven written and oral communications skills as well as meticulous attention to detail. The position requires excellent organization, research, interview and time management skills. Project management experience is helpful as well as enthusiasm for science and education.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, English or related field.
