Amazon Publishing is hiring a Rights & Contracts Manager. Reporting directly to the team leader, this position will have dynamic responsibilities, including drafting and negotiating contracts, managing foreign rights licenses, managing and creating submission material, overseeing a contracts database, preparing monthly reports and seasonal rights guides, and acting as liaison with cross-functional teams to launch books successfully. This is a multi-faceted job in a start-up environment. Flexibility, sharp organizational and process-oriented skills, a self-starting work ethic, and a good sense of humor are absolute musts.

- BA/BS required
- 5 or more years of publishing or related experience at a publishing company, agency, retailer, or related field
- Experience working with MS Office, including Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, SQL/Access, and Bookscan

  • Experience working in a subsidiary rights department or a contracts department of a publishing or other media company
  • Experience negotiating contracts (permissions agreements, subrights licenses and other publishing agreements)
  • Equally comfortable talking about books as well as spreadsheets
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to create new procedures and workflow
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to measure results
  • Organized, self-starter with a focus on excellence and entrepreneurship
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively in high-energy, rapidly evolving organization
