Daily Report (subsidiary of ALM Media) is seeking an experienced Accountant who will be responsible for all general accounting duties for the publication. This position has a broad reach, working directly with all local departments, parent company functional areas and sister publications. The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller.

Established in 1890, the Daily Report is the primary source for news about the courts and the business and profession of law for lawyers in metro Atlanta and all of Georgia. Daily Report serves the legal community through a daily newspaper and website, events, book publishing and other digital products - providing invaluable news, data and information. We also serve as the official legal organ for Fulton County.

Responsibilities:
•Prepare all necessary journal entries within the month-end close process
•Assist in financial statement preparation
•Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research variances; maintain monthly account schedules
•Assist Controller with audit requirements, budgeting and forecasting
•Assist in the budget/forecast to actual analysis and investigate variances
•Manage AR and AP functions, as well as Payroll compiling and submission
•Handle office manager type duties and coordinate building repairs and maintenance
•Special projects as assigned by Controller or Publisher

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
•3+ years of similar experience in finance/accounting
•Prior media/publishing experience is a plus
•Working towards CPA or MBA is a plus
•Offer high quality of service to co-workers, managers, customers and vendors
•Detail oriented and organized
•Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines; work with a sense of urgency
•Exhibit strong communication skills, oral and written
•Strong sense of ownership of responsibilities
•Willingness to “wear many hats”
•Ability to learn and use multiple financial systems
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
•Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Solomon or FRx is a plus
