Associate Mobile Editor
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Wall Street Journal is seeking an editor to join its growing mobile team to help guide publishing for platforms including the iPad, Android tablets and smart phones. The ideal candidate has experience as a journalist, strong editing skills and solid news judgment. Candidates should be able to meet tight deadlines and independently troubleshoot editorial and publishing challenges. The editor will be expected to conceptualize and curate mobile page layouts and work with different news departments to help craft stories, graphics and multimedia for mobile devices. The mobile editor also will be expected to take on a variety of tasks related to cutting edge media projects The ideal candidate must be entrepreneurial, results oriented, skilled at working on a diverse team and able to function in one of the most dynamic environments in the media industry. The job offers unique opportunities to help shape a global news organization's approach to news.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have at least four years of post-college journalism experience, including familiarity with online publishing. Familiarity with mobile technology and trends, attention to detail and copy editing skills are desired. Photoshop skills and multimedia experience including video and graphics are a plus. Flexibility with schedules is expected and the position will require working a several nights a month.
