Web Editor

The Department of Design and Construction is seeking a Web Editor to write and edit the agency’s website.

Specific responsibilities include:
1.Draft and edit all editorial copy for the site
2.Liaise directly with design and production
3.Serve as the site’s lead editorial administrator, functioning as the primary content trafficker to ensure editorial, graphic design, and production functions are working together to meet deadlines
4.Gather appropriate information and photography necessary to keep site content current
5.Maintain editorial calendar of upcoming events and information to be posted or updated on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis
6.Develop website style guide to ensure content uniformity
7.Conduct research and analysis regarding relevant private sector and .gov websites in order to advise on web insights and trends
8.Generate ideas for new content based on our people, projects, and programs

Minimum Qualification Requirements
The successful candidate will have either a master’s degree in journalism or public relations from an accredited college; or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in public relations, journalism (preferably in architecture or design) or advertising.

Preferred Skills
1.Enthusiastic writer, with the ability to research and develop interesting stories about the agency from idea generation to final publication
2.Strong interest in and technical understanding of issues related to the built environment
3.Understanding of the pragmatic and creative nuances of writing for the web
4.Ability to work across all levels of the organization, from administrators and construction professionals to executive management
5.Highly collaborative and willing to work creatively and respectfully with multiple stakeholders
6.Detail-oriented, with a keen eye for copy-editing and consistency

Salary Range: $53,000 - $66,000
